At just 17, Nitanshi Goel, the breakout star of Laapataa Ladies, made her grand entrance at the 77th Cannes Film Festival—and turned the global red carpet into a runway of cultural pride, Gen Z power, and undeniable style.
Wearing a hand-embroidered ivory and gold lehenga by legendary designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Nitanshi brought a piece of India with her to the French Riviera. The look was regal yet youthful, featuring delicate mirrorwork, zardozi embroidery, and a modern cropped blouse with statement sleeves.
“We wanted her to feel like royalty—but Gen Z royalty,” shared Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. “Nitanshi is confident, connected to her roots, and unafraid to take up space. That’s what this outfit says.”
What made her debut extra special? It wasn’t just about glam—it was about gratitude. Nitanshi used the opportunity to pay tribute to iconic Indian women in cinema, from Rekha to Meena Kumari, blending their grace with her own fresh perspective.
Styled by the always-on-point Anaita Shroff Adajania, the look was completed with soft gold jhumkas, dewy skin, and a sleek low bun. “We kept it clean and classic,” said Adajania. “Because the message she’s carrying is the real statement.”
Makeup artist Namrata Soni added:
“We let her skin breathe, gave her a luminous base, and kept the lips soft and natural. She’s 17—we wanted her to glow, not be covered.”
Nitanshi’s post-Cannes caption said it best:
“I walked for every young girl with a dream—and every Indian woman who came before me. This moment belongs to all of us.”
From the red carpet to the headlines, Nitanshi Goel proved that Gen Z isn’t just following trends—we’re shaping legacies. 🌸
